My literature
To my mind book reading books is not only a pleasant pastime but it’s a great opportunity for personal enrichment, getting new knowledge and even speech improvement. Carefully chosen literature helps one to progress very quickly indeed. When studying at the closed courses we paid a great attention to choosing the literature to read and made a big list of it.
For convenience I divided all my reading into three parts: fiction, business and psychotechnologies.
Fiction
Fiction enriches one’s speech and makes it much more emphatic. It also helps to express one’s thoughts more accurately. It’s a very important thing in common communication, business negotiations and therapy. So why do I read it?
- Vocabulary enrichment. When reading the writings of masters of the word we start copying and modeling them. In addition we take their words and expressions unwittingly.
- Clear expression of the thoughts. Indeed if we know several ways to express a thought, we have an opportunity to choose the best. It’s very useful for business negotiations.
- Multimodal description. The authors often make amplifications of the environments that their heroes see, plus sounds, smells and sensations. It means that a description goes through all the human being receptors or modals. This skill is very useful for hypnotherapy.
- Reading aloud. My mentors advised me reading aloud A. Pushkin’s “Eugeny Onegin”. Such exercise helps to work with intonations and pauses in speech and sufficiently enhances its sounding.
- Reading aloud unadapted English texts. When a pupil my English school teacher told me that if I want to support my English speech skills I should read aloud English unadapted fiction. Following this advice I read Walter Winward’s “Rainbow Soldiers”.
Business
Reading special literature in this field helps to orientate and control business trends. I read the books of Tom Peters, Robert Bly, Roman Trunin etc. They’re mainly about business optimization, marketing, time management and brand phenomenon.
Psychotechnologies
Well, the similar situation. Every therapist along with practice and studying at? The special courses must read psychologic and psychiatric literature.
